CGN's 1.2 million kilowatt pumped storage power station starts construction!

On March 25th, the construction of the ventilation and safety tunnel for the 1.2 million kilowatt Tiandong pumped storage power station of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) in Baise started, marking the official launch of the project preparation project and providing strong support and assurance for the subsequent construction of the main project. This project is a key implementation project of the "14th Five Year Plan" of the national "Medium - and Long Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035)", and it is also the first million kilowatt pumped storage power station independently invested and developed by China General Nuclear Power Group.

The project is located in Linfeng Town, Tiandong County, Baise City, with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. It will install four reversible water pump turbines with a single capacity of 300000 kilowatts, and plan to construct an upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water transmission system, and underground powerhouse.

After the completion of the project, the annual power generation can reach 1.136 billion kilowatt hours, with a daily regulation capacity of 6 hours. It can reduce the consumption of standard coal by about 614400 tons per year, reduce carbon dioxide by about 1.609 million tons, and reduce pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides by more than 1000 tons. This is of great significance for optimizing the energy structure of Guangxi, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the Guangxi power grid, improving the consumption level of new energy such as wind power and photovoltaics in Guangxi power grid, driving the industrial upgrading of revolutionary old areas, and promoting the coordinated development of green infrastructure and rural revitalization.
