The largest wind power project in Central Asia with full capacity grid connected power generation

On March 6th local time, the largest wind power project in Central Asia, the Bukhara 1 GW wind power project in Uzbekistan, which was jointly contracted and constructed by China Energy Engineering International Corporation, Zhejiang Thermal Power, China Power Engineering International Corporation, and North China Institute, achieved full capacity grid connected power generation. Inject strong momentum into the green transformation and upgrading of Uzi Energy.

The Bukhara 1 gigawatt wind power project in Uzbekistan is China's first large-scale new energy project in Central Asia. It consists of two 500 megawatt wind farms, Bashi and Zankerdi, with a total installed capacity of 1 gigawatt. A total of 158 Yuanjing Energy EN-171/6.5 wind turbines are installed. After completion and operation, it is expected to generate 3.59 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, equivalent to 7% of Uzbekistan's national annual electricity generation, significantly improving local power supply capacity, optimizing power structure, and benefiting millions of local residents.

The chief engineer of the project, Xiu Chunsong, introduced that the project team actively carried out technological innovation activities and developed creative technological achievements to improve the efficiency of 900T crawler lifting and dismantling in desert environments. The lifting efficiency of the project's wind turbine was increased from 40% to 68.09%, achieving a record of 50.5 days of cumulative progress in 111 days, breaking the monthly record for the largest land wind turbine lifting of 6.5 MW in Central Asia, and creating direct economic benefits of more than 6 million yuan.

As one of the largest single projects in the history of wind turbine land transportation with the most complex logistics conditions, the project unit has undergone a land transportation of about 5000 kilometers, crossing the customs of China, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. The engine room weighs 125 tons, the blade length exceeds 84 meters, the tower weighs up to 93 tons, and the maximum diameter reaches 4.8 meters. It is our responsibility to continuously accelerate logistics transportation, and it is also an important link for the rapid and smooth performance of the project, "said Li Cheng, the deputy manager of the project. The project procurement and logistics department made every effort to connect the domestic and international port links, and in October 2023, completed the delivery of 160 large vehicles and more than 14 sets of wind turbines in a single month, breaking multiple records for large logistics transportation in Central Asia.
