The largest offshore photovoltaic project in China connected to the grid for power generation
On December 31, 2024, the largest integrated offshore photovoltaic demonstration project for photovoltaic hydrogen storage in China, the "Integrated Photovoltaic Hydrogen Storage" project in Rudong, Jiangsu, was connected to the grid for power generation, marking the first comprehensive energy utilization+coastal ecological governance project in China that integrates photovoltaic power generation, hydrogen production and refueling, and energy storage power stations.
For example, Dongguang Hydrogen Storage Integration Project is located in the Bund of Yudong Reclamation Area, Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, with a total installed capacity of 400 MW and an area of 4300 mu. A 220 kV shore based booster station, a 60 MW/120 MWh energy storage station and a hydrogen production and hydrogenation station with a hydrogen production capacity of 1500 standard cubic meters/hour and a hydrogenation capacity of 500 kg/day are newly built. It is the third batch of "Sagehuang Large Wind Power PV Base Project" in China. After the project is completed and put into operation, the annual average grid connected electricity will be about 468 million kilowatt hours, which will help local ecological environment protection and green low-carbon development.
It is reported that the project also makes full use of the coastal mudflat resources, adopts advanced photovoltaic technology and intelligent control system to achieve efficient energy conversion and storage, and further improves the energy utilization efficiency through hydrogen production through electrolytic water. The completion of the whole project will significantly enhance the peak shaving capacity and power supply stability of the regional power grid, and promote the optimization and upgrading of the energy structure of Rudong County and surrounding areas.
Trudeau has customized a complete set of integrated solutions for large offshore platforms suitable for the coastal mudflat environment, including 220kV booster stations and 35kV Chinese box type transformer substation, which provides an important demonstration of green and low-carbon development for new energy projects in coastal areas and even the whole country.
