Inner Mongolia Taiyanggou Pumped Storage Power Station approved
On December 31, 2024, the Bayannur Taiyanggou Pumped Storage Power Station received approval from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Energy Bureau.
The Taiyanggou Pumped Storage Power Station is a key implementation project of the national pumped storage "15th Five Year Plan". It is located in Urad Rear Banner, Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia, with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts and a total investment of 9.107 billion yuan. The feasibility study review of the project was completed in April 2024, and the National Energy Administration's regulatory approval was obtained on December 11, 2024.
The power station mainly undertakes tasks such as peak shaving, frequency regulation, phase regulation, energy storage, black start, and emergency backup in the power grid. After being put into operation, it can consume 2.4 billion kilowatt hours of new energy annually, which is of great significance for improving the power grid regulation capacity, promoting the consumption of new energy, and ensuring the safety of power supply.
