On December 11th, the first phase of the independent energy storage power station project in Suzhou District, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, constructed by Ates Sunshine Power Group Co., Ltd., was successfully connected to the grid. The total scale of the independent energy storage power station is 500 MW/2 GWh, which will be constructed in two phases. The first phase of the project has a scale of approximately 200MW/800MWh and will commence construction on May 16, 2024.

The investment for this project is 1 billion yuan, and 54 sets of energy storage subsystems will be installed. At the same time, a 330kV booster station and other auxiliary facilities will be built. The output power will be connected to the Jiuquan 750kV substation. The project adopts the Atos SolBank energy storage system product, based on lithium iron phosphate battery technology, with high discharge depth, multiple cycles, and a design life of up to 25 years. During the system life cycle, the cumulative charging capacity will reach 6.026 billion kilowatt hours. This efficient energy storage system will not only improve the utilization rate of new energy, but also provide strong guarantees for the stable operation of the power system.

According to statistics from State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company, as of November 4th, the installed capacity of clean energy in Gansu has reached 70.05 million kilowatts, accounting for 73% of the total installed capacity. The proportion of new energy installed capacity and power generation ranks second in the country. With the continuous breakthrough of new energy installed capacity, the uncertainty of wind and photovoltaic power generation also poses great challenges to power system peak shaving. Therefore, it is particularly urgent and important to actively develop new types of energy storage to address these challenges.
