The longest desert transmission and transformation project in China has been put into operation

On December 14th, the 750 kV transmission and transformation project with the longest desert route in China, the Bazhou Tieganlik Ruoqiang 750 kV transmission and transformation project in Xinjiang, was officially put into operation. After the project is put into operation, the capacity of the new energy channel in Bazhou, Xinjiang will increase by 1.7 million kilowatts.

It is understood that nearly 400 kilometers of railway lines need to be installed in the largest desert in China, the Taklamakan Desert. The high mobility and strong wind in deserts result in a low excavation rate for desert tower foundations, and construction projects also face many problems such as dry climate and difficult concrete curing.

We use sandbags, sand barriers, and other methods to prevent various problems during the foundation excavation process, and propose the "three fast" construction method of rapid excavation, rapid preparation, and rapid pouring, which greatly saves construction time in desert areas. Li Jun, the project manager of the Construction Branch of State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd., said that in order to ensure the quality of concrete curing in desert areas and ensure the smooth operation of the project, the builders use a special "drip" device to pour water onto the tower foundation, wrap and cover the foundation surface with concrete curing film, save water resources, and improve the insulation and moisture retention effect.

The Bazhou Tieganlik Ruoqiang 750 kV transmission and transformation project located in the southern region of Xinjiang starts from the Bazhou 750 kV substation and ends at the Ruoqiang 750 kV substation. The project started construction on March 25, 2023, with a total of 880 kilometers of 750 kV transmission lines and 1873 iron towers built. It took 21 months to complete and put into operation. This project is an important part of the 750 kV power transmission and transformation project around the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang. Later, the project will be connected with the 750 kV power transmission and transformation projects from Ruoqiang to Qiemo, Qiemo to Minfeng, forming a 750 kV large ring network around the Tarim Basin, providing grid support for the development of energy resources in the Tarim Basin.

It is reported that the 750 kV power transmission and transformation project around the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang is a key project of the national "14th Five Year Plan" electric power development plan. It will further optimize the main grid structure in southern Xinjiang, significantly improve the collection and transmission capacity of new energy such as photovoltaic in southern Xinjiang, form a 750 kV hub type backbone grid pattern "connecting the north with the south, extending the west and connecting the east", and lay the foundation for effectively improving the power transmission capacity of Xinjiang in the later period.
