The IEC international standard, led by China for the first time in the field of low-voltage complete sets, has been officially released
On November 28, 2024, the international standard IEC TS 63290:2024 ED1 Supplementary requirements for intelligent assemblies, led by Tianjin Electric Science Research Institute Co., Ltd., the domestic technical counterpart of IEC 121B, was officially released. This is the first IEC international standard proposed and led by China in the field of low-voltage complete equipment.
IEC TS 63290 is the first project proposed and led by China in the field of low-voltage complete equipment. The project was officially established in January 2020 by a working group consisting of 28 experts from 9 countries, including China, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, the United States, Denmark, Spain, and Australia. After nearly 5 years of overcoming the impact of the epidemic and other adverse factors, it was discussed multiple times through online meetings and other means. On September 27, 2024, it received 100% unanimous approval from 18 member countries and was officially released on November 28, 2024.
IEC TS 63290 specifies the definition, usage conditions, structural requirements, technical characteristics, and verification requirements for intelligent low-voltage switchgear and control equipment. These requirements are additional to the IEC 61439 series, focusing on intelligent elements such as digital functions and communication, providing a standard basis for the design, testing, and verification of such products.
The successful release of this international standard has achieved a breakthrough in China's leading development of international standard zero in the field of low-voltage complete sets, and has prospectively introduced intelligent elements into the professional field of IEC/SC121B low-voltage complete sets of equipment for the first time, in order to enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese products and technologies in the low-voltage complete set field and create a favorable environment for better entry into the international market
