Chinese company to build solar power plant in Uzbekistan
BISHKEK, March 30, 2023 (RIA Novosti) - Uzbekistan and China yesterday signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation in the field of energy and trade between the regions of the two countries, RIA Novosti reported today.
Uzbekistan's Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov signed a memorandum of understanding with Han Song, chairman of the board of directors of the Xinjiang Huadian Electric Power Engineering Company, on the construction of solar power plants in the Navoi and Fergana regions.
Memorandums of cooperation on trade, renewable energy and partnership agreements were also signed between Tashkent Oblast and China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
In addition, bilateral presentations were held during the event to familiarize participants with the investment potential of the two regions.
It is reported that at the end of the event the parties expressed their desire to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and China on the basis of the established high level of trust and partnership, and to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
As it was reported earlier, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Chinese delegation headed by Ma Xingrui, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region. The sides discussed a wide range of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, including the implementation of joint cooperation projects in the field of renewable energy.
