Nearly half of the world's installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation in China

Premier Li Qiang: Nearly half of the global installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation in China, the green market will reach ten trillion yuan level!

On January 16, Premier Li Qiang attended the World Economic Forum's 2024 Annual Meeting at the Davos International Conference Center and delivered a special address.

Li Qiang said that we should strengthen cooperation on green development and actively respond to global climate change. Humanity is still facing many challenges in addressing climate change and promoting green and low-carbon transformation. Practices such as talking about strengthening cooperation on climate governance while erecting green trade barriers still exist in large numbers, and some high-quality and efficient green and low-carbon technologies and products cannot circulate freely. We should adhere to the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, strengthen the docking of green development strategies, break down all kinds of green barriers, and jointly promote a comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.

China is pushing forward its green and low-carbon transformation. Nearly half of the world's installed photovoltaic capacity is now in China, more than half of the world's new-energy vehicles are running in China, the number of new-energy vehicles in the country has exceeded 20 million, and a quarter of the world's new greening area comes from China. China will also form a large-scale development increment in green infrastructure, green energy, green transportation, green life and other areas, which will nurture an investment and consumption market estimated to reach 10 trillion yuan per year, with huge potential.

In 2023, the wind, light, storage new installed capacity to break 300GW: 2023, with the PV module, wind power machine and the core price record lows, China's wind power, photovoltaic, storage installed capacity will break through the 300GW, a new high!

According to the national energy bureau national electric power industry statistics, January-November China's photovoltaic new installed capacity of 163.88GW, according to the end of the year to grab the grid of the industry law, 2023 annual photovoltaic new installed capacity or will exceed 210GW.

2023 is also a year of wind power, energy storage plant installed capacity breakthrough. According to industry data forecast, wind power, energy storage new installed capacity will reach 70GW, 50GWh, which means that in 2023 the wind, light, energy storage new installed capacity will exceed 300GW!

From the photovoltaic 2022-2023 sub-month installation comparison, 2023 monthly photovoltaic new installations are almost doubled in 2022 based on growth, individual months even reached 3 times growth. Even in as high as 1.8-2 yuan / watt module prices, 2022 December new installed capacity in November based on triple growth.

Coupled with the fact that 2023 is the time node of the first batch of grid-connected wind and solar bases, it is expected that the new installed capacity of grid-connected in December will exceed 50GW, which is almost equivalent to the level of the entire year of 2021 installed capacity.

Classified by type , the first three quarters of 2023, centralized PV power plant, distributed PV, respectively, added 61.79GW, 67.14GW, according to the average growth rate of 20GW/quarter, coupled with the end of the year rush to install the incremental increase brought about by the distributed PV new scale or will break through 90GW, ushering in a brand-new growth of the year.

Symposium on the Development Situation of PV Industry in the Fourth Quarter of 2023 Held Successfully: In the afternoon of January 17, 2024, China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) organized and held a symposium on the development situation of the photovoltaic industry in the fourth quarter of 2023, which was held in Beijing. The meeting was presided over by Jiang Hua, Deputy Secretary General of China Photovoltaic Industry Association. Relevant personnel from the Department of Electronic Information of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology were present at the meeting, and more than 40 supervisors and leaders from more than 30 industry-leading enterprises attended and spoke at the meeting.

The quarterly symposium is aimed at strengthening information exchange, cohesion of development consensus, scientific research and judgment of trends; strengthening upstream and downstream synergistic development, fully understanding the industry's development situation and the latest developments, while effectively carrying out the industry's risk early warning and other work.

NBS: Solar power generation up 17.2% in December: on January 17, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released the December 2023 energy production. The data show that in December, the industrial power generation capacity of 829 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 8.0% year-on-year. Sub-species, in December, the industrial thermal power growth accelerated, hydropower, wind power, solar power generation growth rate fell, nuclear power decline expanded. Among them, thermal power increased by 9.3%, the growth rate accelerated by 3.0 percentage points compared with November; hydropower increased by 2.5%, the growth rate dropped by 2.9 percentage points compared with November; nuclear power decreased by 4.2%, the decline rate expanded by 1.8 percentage points compared with November; wind power increased by 7.4%, the growth rate dropped by 19.2 percentage points compared with November; solar power generation increased by 17.2%, the growth rate dropped by 18.2 percentage points compared with November. 18.2 percentage points.
